Velest
1-D inversion of velocities and hypocenter locations
VELEST is a shareware programme written in Fortran to invert simultaneously for 1-D velocities (Vp & Vs) and hypocentral parameter. The goal of VELEST is to establish a so called minimum 1D model with station corrections used for high precision earthquake location and as initial reference model for 3-D local earthquake tomography. In order to use VELEST properly, only well locatable events (GAP <180°, minobs>6) should be used.
